This boat has the stability and softer ride associated with a much larger vessel. The Ocean Limo 500 VIP Charter can maintain a much higher speed in adverse conditions than most monohull vessels and is considerably faster than a monohull of the same volume using the same horsepower. This translates into much greater range and better fuel economy. Power catamarans consume 15-30% less fuel than a similarly styled monohull which leads to tremendous cost savings. This is why ferry companies are changing over to Catamarans for commercial use where cost and ride factors are paramount. Navies and Coastguard agencies around the world are also now starting the switch.
The catamaran concept applied to the VIP Charter market offers new levels of stability and comfort. They do not roll like a monohull at sea and have no need for any roll dampening devices. And like all composite catamarans, they are virtually unsinkable due to the epoxy foam sandwich construction. There is sufficient buoyancy in the foam skin alone to support a badly damaged vessel without considering the numerous watertight compartments, and the use of Kevlar in the likely impact areas, which minimizes the possibility of such damage occurring in the first place.
Construction is from medium-tech foam sandwich composite, utilizing epoxy resins, cross-linked PVC foams and E-glass stitched/knitted reinforcements. Carbon fiber lifting lugs, similar to integral chain plates used on sailing boats, are incorporated into the structure of the vessel allowing the boat to be crane lifted without wrapping straps around the hull.
The stability of a power catamaran is considerably higher than that of a monohull vessel because of the wide spacing of the hulls. The Ocean Limo 500 VIP Charter offers the ride of a much larger boat with the agility of a smaller vessel. The boat turns in its own length with one engine in forward and one in reverse.
